Boss and staff at knobblies Bikes

We are a pretty laid back bunch and take time to listen to your needs in order for you to make an informed decision about any purchases or maintenance that is required. We believe we are respected for our opinions and expertise as we have plenty of returning  happy customers. And that’s what we want to see. We do our best to provide the best possible customer service at a great price. Between Chris and the rest of the team are over 35yrs of experience in the trade. We will listen to your needs and show you our products and give you the help to decide but not in a pressured sales environment. If we believe something is not suitable we will tell you!!

Chris Warburton, Owner Chris Warburton

Chris started Knobblies Bikes in March 1998 with a staff of one – himself! The life of a Chemical Engineering Scientist after his Masters degree at Exeter University was not for him. Chris wanted to combine his passion for cycling and endless tinkering with bikes into a business and therefore create the perfect job. After a year or two on his own, he was able to employ another member of staff and has built up the business so that he has now been able to employ two full time members of staff.

Chris at Roadford TriathlonChris is still involved in all aspects of running the shop, he is a keen cyclist and triathlete and will have a go at most things. He has recently discovered ‘bikepacking‘ and it’s grabbed his attention to such an extent that he has started up a side business – FAT TYRE ADVENTURES – wild camp weekends by bike on Dartmoor, he wants to spread the word.

Richard SturdyRich at Knobblies

Rich joined Knobblies in 2002. A keen cyclist from a young age, Rich used to make his own bikes up as a kid. In his 20’s Rich was employed as a bicycle courier in London, cycling an average of 50 miles a day.  Since 2000 he moved back to Exmouth to enjoy a quieter pace of life. Still enjoying his passion for cycling, Rich regularly leads a free guided mountain bike ride up to Woodbury Common.

Colin Rossiter

Colin joined Knobblies in 2008 and is an avid mountain biker. He is known very much for his local knowledge in trails around Devon. Colin loves hills and legend has it that he’s is the only person who can start and finish a ride in the same place but it can be uphill the whole way!!

Colin was the trail guru behind the KNOBBLER a 56km charity mountain bike ride across East Devon. Now an annual event.
