ORYX – Our first Fat Bike was finished 2014
Now available to demo, bikes will be built to order, this one would retail for £2399
I urge you to get a demo ride on it if you are at all interested. You will be amazed, it might just be the only mountain bike you will ever want to ride again!
It’s certainly been a process figuring out the build for this Fat bike. Now that it is complete I am very happy. It has now several hundred kilometers. The bike rides like a rigid bike, stand up and pedal and it shoots off with none of the usual bobbing, but hit a rooty section and it eats them up. There is so much traction for cornering, I can’t ride anywhere near it’s limits. Overall efficiency is great, even better than I expected it to be. I can supply frame and fork only too if you want to have a go at building one yourself. All up weight is 27lbs or 12.27 kg. We should be able to build for £1999 spec too if we cut a few corners!! This is amazing for a carbon fat bike, most frames and fork only retail for around the £2000 mark.

Here is a little video that we made to encourage you to try fat bikes. On the Commons the terrain is perfectly suited to the wider tyres, and Exmouth’s beach has around 3 miles of glorious sand to ride along at low tide.
Do fat tyres have an advantage? We think they do in many situations. Like all setups though 4″ of rubber won’t suit you all the time, but will give you an edge when the going gets soft steep or loose! Have a look at our very own video!
